Nearly two decades ago I contracted a stomach bug, which nothing seemed to relieve. That’s when I had remembered reading that raspberry leaf tea was suppose to help relieve one’s nausea. So I went to my backyard, collected a handful of fresh leaves and brewed a tea. I was amazed at how well it worked! Later that year I was nursing a soar throat that wouldn’t go away. Sage Leaves was recommended to relieve pain due to a soar throat. Again I harvested sage growing out in my garden, brewed a tea and it Worked!!
I was so amazed that something so simple and so common could have such wonderful results, and that is what set me on my path to learn about the healing properties of herbs,
I spent years reading ever that I could about find on herbs, their uses, how they work, and practiced using them when needed. Over a decade ago I found the Herbal Academy online, a well-respected institution aimed at teaching people about the power and benefits of herbs. While I was never much into the sciences in school, this was something I had become deeply passionate for, so I studied, learning as much as I could, and while I have greatly expanded my understanding and applications for herbs I will always have more to learn and discover.
All of this has lead me here, to my farm, where I grow all my herbs organically year-round both in my gardens and in my greenhouse. I am always finding new useful herbs that I never knew grew here just walking around my property. Herbs are not the only thing you will find here. We grow Specialty Plants, ones you can’t find in nurseries. There are a variety of fruit trees along the driveway, vegetables growing plentifully in the side yard, and a Mushroom Garden in the shady woods surrounded by Sugar Maple Trees that we tap to make syrup.
There is an ever-growing flock of chickens producing eggs for us foraging around the property. High up on the hill you will find our Cashmere Goats and come spring we will be harvesting their Cashmere Fiber. There are also Angora Rabbits that also produce luxurious fibers for us. The farm has several Honey Bee Hives to produce our own honey.
Now it is my Dream, Desire, to not only teach others about the healing powers of plants but to offer mostly farm grown organic herbs and other plants that are hard to find. When I think about all that I have here, the one work that comes to mind “Blessings” and that is why I named this property “Mt. Blessings Farm”. I truly believe that blessings are to be shared and I would love to share mine with you. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have, to schedule a class or to take a tour of the farm.
I hope you find everything in life that you are looking for the way I have found mine!
